It is my job to help you keep the integrity of your hair. I will work to the best of my knowledge to provide you the information and products you need to make positive changes in your curly lifestyle. Please keep in mind that it may take time to free your hair of the heavy, oil based products that may have been used on a regular basis or heat damage you may have experienced. All good things take time, so come in with an open mind and you'll see amazing things happen on your curly journey.
HOW DO I PREP FOR MY CURL CUT?
Please arrive at the salon with your curls detangled and 100% dry, a little product is ok. If you are getting an express cut (returning clients only), please style hair as you would on a typical wash day.
Prior to your appointment, it's best to let your hair hang loosely-avoid ponytail holders or clips. If detangling or diffusing is necessary before your appointment, a $25 prep fee will be added (IF TIME ALLOWS). Please understand the importance of coming with hair prepared, as my schedule stays full and I may need you to reschedule if I do not have the time to add the extra service.
IS MY HAIR RIGHT FOR A DRY CUT?
If you wear your hair in a curly state most (or 100%) of the time, the dry cutting method is recommended for you.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
A first time Curly cut appointment takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, which will include a thorough consultation. Returning clients can expect appointments to be approximately 1 hour and a half depending on length and density.
WHAT IS A CURL COACHING SESSION?
There is an incredible amount of information on social media regarding curly techniques and products and it can get overwhelming! Truth is, everyone's hair is different and there are a variety of factors that may affect how your hair handles product. You and I will sit down and have a thorough consultation on your daily routine, products being used, application and drying techniques. We will discuss your curl challenges and come up with a personalized plan for you to get you on the path to loving your curls.
I'M A FIRST TIME CLIENT, CAN I BOOK A COLOR?
For first time guests, I require a haircut appointment first.
RETURNING CLIENTS, CAN I BOOK A COLOR?
No problem! I will cut your hair first and then we will proceed to color after.
DO YOU SEE CHILDREN?
I do. My pricing is the same for both children and adults. children must be able to sit through the service and be older than 5 years old.
WHAT CREDENTIALS DO YOU HAVE?
I am a DevaCurl Advanced Stylist. I completed an intense 3 day course at the New York City DevaCurl Academy. I have also trained with curl master Lorraine Massey, author of The Curly Girl Handbook and received her Curl by Curl certification. February 2021, I completed the Rëzo cutting and coloring certification and have trained with top curl stylist Evan Joseph. The art of sculpting curls and educating clients and stylists is a true joy, I love to help boost curl confidence!
Maintenance is important in keeping up with your curly routine, for shorter curly cuts 3-4 months is recommended and longer hair can be maintained every 3-6 months depending on your style preference and health of hair. If I haven't seen you in over a year, please book a new client appointment.
